When Molly and Brian contacted me about taking their engagement portraits, they told me that they were hoping to do them as soon as possible.

Their dog, Neila, had been diagnosed with cancer and they really wanted to get some portraits taken with her before her health declined any further.

So, I met them in the early morning at Meems Bottom Covered Bridge. We kept to a small area and sat on a blanket so that Neila wouldn't have to walk around much.

Despite not feeling her best, Neila was so, so sweet and I could tell she was an excellent canine companion and part of the family.

After taking pictures with Neila, we let her rest and took some portraits of just Molly and Brian together.

One of the first things that Brian told me about himself was that he thinks he usually looks like a mannequin in pictures. I told him I'd do my best to help him avoid that!

I think I succeeded, but we'll let Brian be the judge.

Molly and Brian were very much at ease in their affection for each other and laughed a great deal.

Which is a good thing since they are getting married at the Barn at Walnut Grove in Elkton next March!

Love this next shot! Climbing into shrubbery and shooting through leaves for the win.

Early morning light is just gorgeous, with the sunlight dappling through the leaves.

I am very sad to say that since I met with these three for this session a couple of weekends ago, Neila's health has diminished greatly. Molly and Brian are saying goodbye to her tonight after sharing her favorite meal: cheeseburgers and ice cream.

Molly and Brian, my heart goes out to you. I hope you are able to cherish these images of you with your Neila in the happy shared years to come.
